May
13 at Eu.
One
Thousand Years of History with the Saint Legers.
On May 13, the chateau of Eu, will receive approximately 300
descendants of the original branch of the very old Saint Leger family. This
family will in fact celebrate its 1000 years of existence.
The town of Eu, participates in this event to celebrate Robert de Saint
Leger, the ancestor who went to the conquest of England at the side of William
the Conqueror in 1066.
On the occasion of these festivities, the town of Eu will honor Robert
de Saint Leger by inaugurating the passage Robert de Saint Leger which connects
the Plaza Saint Laurent O'Toole to the Plaza William the Conqueror.
Throughout the centuries, the Saint Leger family became illustrious in
every domain and on all continents.
Related to all the Anglo-Saxon royal families and to the Counts of Eu,
the Saint Legers were present at the
courts of the Kings of France until the Revolution.
Dispersed at the moment between France and England, this family is also
present in Argentina, South Africa, the United States and Australia.
It is thanks to the branch from the Savoie that the initiative of this
reunion will take place at Eu within a few kilometers of Saint-Leger-aux Bois
from where Robert de Saint Leger embarked for the conquest of England.
